Golf Gloves Can Help Your Game

Finding The Proper Fitting Golf Gloves

Loving the game of golf means acquiring all the gear that helps you play well and in comfort. Along with the right set of clubs and balls, having a set of proper fitting golf gloves is important. They can be the difference between painful blisters that cause you to slice the ball into the woods, and a protective second skin that allows you to make that straight shot.

Selecting the right glove or gloves will depend on the temperature and weather where you play. Hotter temps means sweat that may cause your grip to slip on the club. Cooler weather may mean cold hands and painful contact upon impact. Golf gloves come in a variety of colors and fabrics to accommodate different playing conditions. Leather, nylon or other synthetic materials are often used to make gloves.

After narrowing down the material for course conditions, decide whether you will wear one glove or two. Most players use just one, however if your hands are sensitive you may want to glove both hands. If you opt for just one, you will purchase a single glove for your opposite playing hand. Right-handed golfers will buy one for their left-hand, and the opposite for left-handed players.

The hand closest to the top of the club wears the glove. Gloves provide a better grip by preventing sweat or blisters from getting in the way of your game.

To make sure that loss of grip does not interfere with your play, make sure to get the proper fit. Gloves should fit snugly on your hands. The material should be smooth across the palm and back of your hand. The tips of your fingers should fit tightly with no extra material. Initially your gloves may even feel tight, but you want them to fit like a second skin. If your gloves are not snug then they may end up causing blisters and slipped grip rather than prevent these.

There are many makers of quality gloves. Many of the golf clothing, shoe or club makers offer gloves too. Most golf course pro shops offer gloves for sale, as do athletic supply stores. You can also sort through all the brands and styles on the internet. Whichever brand you choose, proper fit will make all the difference.
